History of Hanks' Partnership Model of Family Organization (PMFO)

Julie de Azevedo Hanks

I stumbled across Eisler's cultural transformation theory (CTT) during the creation of the literature review for my PhD dissertation on the topic of creative productivity in mothers. She had co-authored an article on gendered constructs of creativity with Alfonso Montouri that changed the course of my dissertation...and my life. The CTT lens helped me to organize the creativity literature in a useful and cohesive way and was the springboard for the development of my Partnership Model of Family Organization (PMFO). After learning about the model I began to realize that the application of partnership model in family Life had the potential to address all of the constraints to creative productivity in women and mothers that I summarized in my dissertation literature review.

I created a PMFO for my dissertation work and exemplified how it might address the constraints to creative productivity in mothers. Through the process of writing the document, I realized that the PMFO not only had potential to address constraints in highly creative mothers, but it had potential to transform all families, and in turn, help move our culture toward a partnership configuration. I'm so glad you're here!
